Tri-County Tenant Union is a group of neighbors from Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties who are coming together to do what we can’t do alone—take on the landlord class and fight for what we all deserve: safe, sustainable, and permanently affordable housing.

The Tri-county area has been run by landlords and developers for too long, from the Mayor’s office to the state capitol to Washington, DC. The results are some of the fastest rising rents, highest eviction rates, and unsafe living conditions in the country. Their goals are to profit from our exploitation, and they’ve used racial segregation, gentrification, and low-wage jobs to do it.

But we’ve had enough!

We’re building a mass working-class, multi-racial, and multi-generational union to demand rent caps, eviction protections, and safer housing. We knock on our neighbors’ doors as an expression of our love and solidarity; we prioritize care and culture-building in everything we do because our relationships are the source of our power; and we run campaigns to change our material realities because we believe that we will win.

We are more powerful together than we are alone. And that’s why we want you to join us.
