Learn how to speak truth to power — and be heard.
This one-hour training will help tenants, union members, community members, and allies understand how South Carolina’s legislative process works and how to effectively talk to their representatives about the Eviction Record Sealing Bill (H.4270).
Participants will:
Learn the basics of how a bill moves through subcommittees, full committees, and floor votes in the South Carolina House and Senate.
Identify who their legislators are and how to contact them.
Practice real-life conversations, phone calls, and emails to legislators — including what to say, how to say it, and how to follow up.
Build confidence to request meetings and talk about eviction record sealing in ways that connect to your lived experience.
By the end of the training, participants will leave ready to take action and make their voices heard before the legislative session opens on January 13th.
