Christmas Carol Canvass (Charleston)

Across the state, SC Tenant Union will be stepping out for our first-ever Christmas Carol Canvass - a creative and fun action demanding a subcommittee hearing for the Eviction Record Sealing Bill (H.4270).

We’ll be remixing classic Christmas songs and singing eviction-themed carols across the TriCounty:

  • Because eviction in South Carolina is forever.

  • Because dismissed cases still follow families for years.

  • Because even if you settle, it sticks on your record for a lifetime.

All we want for Christmas is a subcommittee hearing for H4270 as soon as the session opens in January 2026! This action will happen statewide in Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville.

We will bring:
🎶 Lyrics + printed songbooks
🎅 Santa hats and holiday flair
📣 Chants, joy, and people power
🎁 Oversized holiday cards with our demand: “Schedule the hearing!”
✊🏾 Tenant stories and truth-telling

Please note: We will meet at the library to be split into groups and given routes. There will be a Pre-Action Prep Call on 12/17 that we recommend attending for brief training on roles, review of run of show, and what to expect, and get access to the song materials.
